Those potentially interested in tendering for the lease to operate the livestock market business and associated functions, are invited to submit their expressions of interest in receiving further detail and tender pack once it becomes available.
The purpose-built modern mart premises comprise a reception and mart office, two auction rings with associated livestock pens for cattle, sheep and pigs, sheep auction area, loading areas to the side and rear with lorry parking and wash down facilities, a café area and kitchen facilities, bar, and ten business units occupied by agricultural supply/service companies.
The successful applicant will be expected to demonstrate its proposals for a progressive, forward-looking regional livestock market. This will entail operating regular livestock auctions, and managing all ancillary functions including sub-letting of concessions, catering functions, and business units; whilst also seeking to maximise any wider opportunities to create a viable and sustainable enterprise. Interested parties may also wish to consider including within the lease the Council’s Rural Business Development Centre which comprises an office suite and associated car parking situated immediately opposite the market’s front entrance doors. The plan illustrating the site boundary includes both premises.
